Healthy Bones Long Course

Curious about how to keep your bones healthy for a lifetime?

In this lecture series, discover the science behind bones according to an Ayurvedic & Yoga perspective.

Bones act as a manufacturing source for blood products, and a calcium storage warehouse, as well as providing structure, shape, protection, and the ability to mobilize in conjunction with joints, muscles and ligaments.

10 million women over the age of 50 in the US have osteoporosis.

During our transition from 2nd to 3rd phase of life (commonly referred to as ‘menopause’ in modern medicine), we lose 20-30% of our bone mass, and then another 5% each year. For men, bone mass loss begins around age 70.

Indigenous Approaches

The best time of life to build bone mass is in our early stages of life between the ages of 0-20 years. Our ancestors accomplished their bone mass storage by running and jumping, climbing, lifting heavy things and having good sources of nutrient dense fish oils in the diet.

In this course, Shreejan will share Yoga & Ayurveda interventions that can help early onset osteoporosis as well as with prevention needs. This course is not for those suffering with osteoporosis. We will learn together ways to adjust our diet as well as a stress-management prevention protocol, weight bearing asana and strength training measures that can be done.

You will leave this course with a clear understanding of the purpose and maintenance of bone mass, the science of bones in you and your children and actionable tools to use in your everyday life like:

  • 12 asana to increase bone mass

  • Introduction to breathwork and meditation that anyone can preform anywhere as a preventative stress management tool

  • Introduction to herbals (capsules & decoctions) for use in building bones
