Holistic Protocols for Extending Longevity: Ayurveda and Yoga Therapies for Aging Gracefully

This course will discuss and discover answers to the following, from a Yoga and Ayurveda perspective:

  • What is aging; how do we understand it differently than eastern cultures?

  • How has modern medicine changed the concept of aging in the western world?

  • What is healthy aging and how do we do it?

  • How can we contribute to a healthy perspective of aging and the aged in our communities?

  • Are there any hacks to adding 20 years to our lives now? When is it too late?

  • What is the purpose and goal of aging overall; what have we lost in an anti-aging, media-driven society?

Recently the oldest person in the world died in France at age 120; she had fulfilled the entire life expectancy of a human. Ayurveda texts mimic other ancient scriptures in defining life expectancy at 100-120 years.

The life expectancy for the U.S. in 2022 was 79.05 years, a 0.08% increase from 2021. U.S. life expectancy at birth fell by 2.4 years between 2019 and 2021 - from 78.8 to 76.4. In comparable countries the average life expectancy fell only 0.3 years - from 82.6-82.3. (source: KFF.org, The independent source for health policy research, polling, and news.)
